Adventures And Misadventures On Full Tilt

Full Tilt Poker was closed in the Black Friday domain seizures. Unlike both Absolute Poker and Ultimatebet, which have gone for good, Full Tilt is to be resurrected by PokerStars. It remains to be seen when it will be back on-line and if it will retain its original format, but its comeback has been confirmed.

September 9, 2007: Congratulations, you have won the tournament.

Next to PokerStars, Full Tilt offered probably the widest selection of cash games and tournaments anywhere on the web, incuding stud hi lo and razz.

The screengrabs here - in chronological order as far as possible - are all from the old Full Tilt. My apologies for any inconsistencies in size.

January 29, 2008: A pair of 4s scoops 3 ways.

June 1, 2008: Scooping with a far from great hand.

Circa September 25, 2008: A straight flush on Full Tilt.

November 23, 2008: Winning a small sit ‘n’ go.

November 23, 2008: Winning an even smaller sit ‘n’ go.

December 29, 2008: A straight flush.

Circa January 27, 2009: A decent win at Omaha hi lo.

February 25, 2009: Quads batter aces.

March 8, 2009: Runner up in a small stud hi lo tournament.

March 14, 2009: Scooping with a straight flush in a stud hi lo cash game.

April 2009: (Date uncertain), a straight flush in a low limit hold ’em tournament.

April 6, 2009: A replay of an Omaha or Omaha hi lo hand.

May 2-3, 2009: Runner up in a small late night stud hi lo tournament, $5 + 50c buy-in, 76 runners, 8 places paid.

May 6, 2009: This is a terrible way to lose a hand. I don’t remember how it played out but I am 99% certain we were both all-in before the flop. It hurts even more to lose with kings against kings, as I did once.

May 16, 2009: This demonstrates graphically what can happen if you slow play aces against garbage. I must have been in the big blind because normally I wouldn't even call the small blind with rubbish like this.

May 16-7, 2009: Third place in a small late night stud hi lo tournament with a $5 + 50c buy-in.

June 3-4, 2009: The $10 + $1 Pot Limit Omaha Hi Lo Double Stack started at 20.15; 179 runners, 24 places paid.

June 23-4, 2009: Winning a late night limit Omaha hi lo tournament; 127 runners, 15 places paid; $5 + 50c buy-in.

August 16-7, 2009: Late night on the hold ’em table, and a beautiful river gives big slick the overfull. This was the 10c + 0c No Limit Hold ’Em rebuy – no rebuys for Al, as usual. With 154 left I was in 3rd place after winning a massive pot. I finished 17th of 3,284 runners, winning $8.25.

November 17, 2009: Aces beat aces - a not uncommon phenomenon at Omaha hi lo.

November 22, 2009: A straight flush in an Omaha hi lo tournament on Full Tilt Poker.

November 29, 2009: A cruel river in a hold ’em tournament.

December 6-7, 2009: These late nights can be worth it! 190 runners 18 places paid and our hero wins it. I had a straight flush in this tournament, too.

September 19, 2009: Runner up in a small Freeroll Army freeroll. If it’s free, it isn’t really gambling!

October 10 2010: A flopped straight flush in a sit ‘n’ go.

October 18, 2010: Flopping a straight flush in a HORSE freeroll.

February 11-2, 2011: A late night suck out in a tournament, sadly so typical of Omaha hi lo.

March 4-5, 2011: A straight flush in a late night cash game.

April 3, 2011: Draw Poker, I stood pat and he folded to my minimum bet.

Good Friday, 2011: Scooping the pot with only the pair on the board.

April 23, 2011: I don’t usually play garbage hands even at nano-stakes like here. The muppet bets into my flush on the turn, and his garbage beats my garbage.

May 7, 2011: Never try to bluff a moron. In this hand, from a HORSE tournament, the guy called me with jack high.

June 1, 2011: Quad 9s in a small hours cash game.

June 5, 2011: Cashing in a small pot limit Omaha hi lo tournament.

[The above blog was published originally October 5, 2012 with 20 screengrabs; 14 more were added in due course. Another one has crept into it somehow. My apologies for their varied sizes.]
