NCROPA Papers – 1982

(1) NCROPA NEWS MEDIA RELEASE, January 7, 1982
As with many of the above, which has been scanned from the original artwork, the title has come loose. Before the desktop computer became uniquitous, “cut and paste” meant literally that.
(2) Undated letter from Keith Ball
The above, from this inquirer of Greater London Young Conservatives to (presumably) NCROPA, was presumably received on or more likely before January 12, 1982. See next document.
(3) Copy letter David Webb/NCROPA to Keith Ball – see above, January 12, 1982
(4) Copy letter David Webb/NCROPA to the Guardian, January 21, 1982
The above includes a cutting from the previous day’s paper.
(5) Letter from Carl B. Weisbrod to David Webb/NCROPA The above is a reply to Mr Webb’s letter of November 2, 1981
Re the above, see also 1981 correspondence.
(6) Legal Control of Sex Shops
The above – which mentions NCROPA – is an article from New Law Journal, January 21, 1982
(7) Application from Edward Goodman of NCROPA to become a Parliamentary agent, January 22, 1982
(8) NCROPA’s notice that Edward Goodman has been appointed its Parliamentary agent, January 25, 1982.
(9) Copy letter David Webb/NCROPA to John Lindsay, January 29, 1982
The above letter appears to have included document (8).
(10) Copy letter David Webb/NCROPA to Doug Read, January 29, 1982
(11) Letter Anne Butler of the Attorney General’s Chambers to David Webb/NCROPA, February 1, 1982
(12) Letter Dyson Bell to E.A.C. Goodman, February 2, 1982
(13) Extract from Hansard February 3, 1982
The above generated the most amusing correspondence in this archive. On this date the Labour MP Reg Race became the first person to use the word “fuck” in the House of Commons. As will be seen from the screengrab, this did not go down well with the Speaker, and appears to have gone down even less well with the editor of Hansard, who refused to print it. David Webb took exception to this, as can be seen from
(14) Letter Doug Read of Conegate Limited to David Webb/NCROPA, February 3, 1982
The above appears to have contained a cheque for £200.
(15) Letter Simon Turney of the GLC to David Webb/NCROPA, February 4, 1982
(16) Copy letter David Webb/NCROPA to Michael Freeman in Brixton Prison, February 5, 1982

(19) Copy letter David Webb/NCROPA to John Withington of Reporting London, February 10, 1982
(20) NCROPA News Media Release, February 11, 1982
The second page of the above document is not part of it but may have been included with the letter which David Webb sent to the Editor of Hansard. This letter is included in the release. See also documents (13) and (17) above. This document is scanned from the original artwork; the second page, which he appears to have researched in some depth, was next to it in the file.
(21) Letter K.S. Morgan to David Webb/NCROPA, February 15, 1982

(44) Circular letter from R.M. Coleman of Ann Summers
Although the above is undated, it appears to have been posted around April 26 or perhaps a bit later. This is actually a draft, and as such may have been posted to different parties at different dates with slightly different wording. Because it is printed on foolscap paper, my scanner has lost a tiny bit of the apple at the top of the page!
(45) Letter A. Butler to David Webb/NCROPA for the Lord Chancellor, April 28, 1982
(46) Letter R.M. Coleman of Goldstar Publications to David Webb/NCROPA, April 29, 1982

(53) Letter B. Haynes of Security Archives to NCROPA, June 8, 1982
The above circular is one most people in David Webb’s position would have thrown straight in the bin, but he appears never to have thrown anything away.
(54) Copy letter David Webb/NCROPA to Lord Lane, June 11, 1982
The above was sent by recorded delivery on account of his previous letter going missing. The Hell it did.
(55) Letter Lord Lane to David Webb/NCROPA, June 22, 1982
The above is a brush off from the Lord Chief Justice. David Webb wrote to a number of senior judges on March 29, 1982 and followed up these letters on May 27. It appears that Lord Lane was the only one who bothered to reply.
