In my humble opinion the following short paper is one of the most important documents of the Holocaust. The relevant passage can be found in the third paragraph of page 2. Kramer, “the Beast of Belsen”, was quite unperturbed at the charges he faced in connection with Belsen and Auschwitz - the mill of death itself - yet according to his Counsel he was relieved that he would face no charges in connection with by comparison a handful of murders at the obscure Struthof-Natzweiler camp. Together with other evidence the current writer concludes albeit with reluctance, that some Jews were indeed murdered in homicidal gas chambers. As always in such situations it remains to be seen just how far up the chain of command responsibility can be apportioned.
