Scene: An airline desk at an airport. A tannoy is blaring. A man in a smart suit is standing behind the desk. He is reading a newspaper intently. The newspaper is flat on the desk.
Tannoy: HERE IS AN ANNOUNCEMENT FOR PASSENGERS AWAITING THE 15.15 DEPARTURE TO PARIS. THIS FLIGHT WILL BE DELAYED FOR APPROXIMATELY ONE HOUR DUE TO TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES. TRANSEUROPEAN AIRWAYS APOLOGISES FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE THIS MAY CAUSE.
Woman’s voice: (Unseen passenger to man behind the desk). EXCUSE ME, WILL THE 15.30 TO MOMBASSA BE DEPARTING ON TIME?
Man: YES MADAM. (Not bothering to look up).
Voice: THANK YOU. THAT IS A JUMBO JET, ISN’T IT?
Man: YES MADAM.
Voice: THANK YOU. COME ALONG CHILDREN.
(The man looks up from his newspaper and his eyes bulge in amazement; his mouth falls open. The woman has an elephant’s head and is leading away two similar children - alternatively they can be real elephants).
