The Dark Triad is illustrated by the image below. Curiously, it dates only to 2002. The first two are capitalised because they are named after people. Niccolò Machiavelli was the author of a famous (or infamous) political treatise. Narcissus is of course a famous character from Greek mythology who fell in love with his own reflection.
