Modern Romania has existed only since 1859. It was under Soviet control from 1945 until the latter collapsed. In its entire history, Romania had only 4 Kings, one of them reigning twice.

2. Ferdinand (1914-27)
3. Michael (1927-30) and (1940-47)
4. Carol II (1930-40)
