The 5 Stages Of Grief

1. Denial
2. Anger
3. Bargaining
4. Depression
5. Acceptance

* The above were expounded by Elisabeth Kübler-Ross in her 1969 book On Death And Dying. She developed it after working with terminally ill patients but it can be applied to relatives and friends of the bereaved or even applied to non-fatal situations, eg divorce (the death of a marriage).

It would later be expanded to 7 stages but the original seems more accurate.
