The 5 Distinguished Female Ancestors Of Jesus

1. Tamar (wife of Judah)
2. Ruth (wife of Boaz)
3. Rahab (wife of Salmon)
4. Bathsheba (wife of King David)
5. Mary (wife of Saint Joseph)

* Mary is the Virgin Mary. Rahab was a harlot, not my idea of a distinguished woman! The above genealogy is taken from the Gospel of Matthew, Chapter I.

All these women with the exception of Mary (the mother of Jesus) were Gentiles. A female ancestor is an ancestress, but the plural doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue.
