* The above were the Stuart monarchs of England. Robert II and his son Robert III were Kings of Scotland in the 14th Century.

James I was James VI of Scotland from 1567, inheriting the Throne as a one year old. Charles I was executed in 1649 and was succeeded by Oliver Cromwell as Lord Protector of the Commonwealth. The Monarchy was restored in 1660 when his son came to the Throne. Anne became the first Queen of Great Britain when the Acts Of Union were passed in 1707. On her death she was succeeded by George I of the House of Hanover.
