January 20, 2009: Winning the $5 + 50c stud tournament on Titan Poker; a nice prize pool tonight, 89 runners, 10 places paid.
Seven card stud and more particularly seven card stud hi lo are two variants of poker in which sometimes it is better to be thoughtful than lucky. A thinking person can sometimes win and win big at stud hi lo, certainly as far as tournaments go. As I make a point of playing small, I seldom win big, but have done consistently well at stud hi lo, though not at stud.
I would advise against playing either game at pot limit, though as far as I am aware, the only poker site that currently offers pot limit stud is Ladbrokes, and none offer pot limit stud hi lo.
Below, in chronological order, are some of the many screengrabs I’ve picked up on the way. As ever, my apologies for the inconsistent sizes.
