In 1993 and 1994, the current writer brought two actions for defamation against Gerry Gable, then editor of Searchlight magazine. These actions – which were consolidated – were settled to my satisfaction. Full details can be found on my Main Website along with a large format scan of the final consent order (between myself and Gable). On this site the reader will find a lower resolution scan of the same order, a scan of a photocopy of Gable’s cheque, a letter I sent to the publisher Longman, and a letter distributed by Housmans Bookshop, one of the magazine’s many distributors to pay the price for Gable and company’s perfidy.
