Vulcan

All Summer long I’ve been living
Too close to the Sun;
The heat is now within me,
My blood is bubbling,
My head is afire,
My breath is plasma.

I am no longer a man.
No longer terrene,
I am a nameless, shapeless, half-liquid asteroid
The other side of the planet Mercury;
The wrong side of midnight.

I have no form, no substance,
No desire, no ambition, no emotion,
I have, and am,
Nothing,
But HEAT.
