The letter below appeared in the London Times, August 3, 1963, page 7; it was written by landlord Michael Cookman, and gives the lie to the claim that racism – bore, bore – is part of a conspiracy by the ruling class. In the UK and undoubtedly everywhere else it has always been ordinary, working class white people who have resisted forced race-mixing more than anyone else.
