The Eavesdroppers

This extremely important article was published seven years before the birth of Edward Snowden. Written by Duncan Campbell and Mark Hosenball, it was downloaded here from Campbell’s website.

The reader should note there are two journalists in the UK named Duncan Campbell. I’ve met the other one.

At the time The Eavesdroppers was first published I was a teenager living in London, but although I think I vaguely recall the furore it caused, I was into other things and had (for me) far bigger problems to pay too much attention to state duplicity.

Some background can be found in my 1994 pamphlet Searchlight On Gerry Gable: Secret State Asset Or Liability?
